We all experience relationship tensions and fall outs due to miscommunication or misunderstanding. However, how we choose to react is our doing.

We’ve probably all been guilty of ‘listening to reply’ rather than ‘listening to understand’.

How we’re feeling in ourselves and what’s on our mind at the time can have an impact on how we filter the information we hear and how we react. We try to justify our behaviour. However, the stark reality is we still had a choice and we chose to behave in that way.

There’s a great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

In the heat of the moment it’s hard to apply and the emotional ‘tug of war’ ensues. However, acknowledging that we are in control of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours is the first step towards empowerment.

Don’t live your life in victim mode or in a perpetual ‘tug of war’. Such behaviour serves no positive purpose and can only destroy your wellbeing. Seek to understand, apologise, forgive, let go of grudges, choose wisely and restore peace in your heart.

If you’d like to find out how coaching can help, please get in touch.

We’ve experienced a fortnight of intermittent sunshine and April showers but that’s just what our garden needed to encourage our new seedlings and perennial spring flowers and shrubs to burst into bloom.

Like our gardens we too need nurturing so that we grow and blossom into healthy and balanced individuals capable of achieving our life and career goals.

Allocating time for ourselves to focus upon the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional elements of our wellbeing is key to personal growth, fulfillment and work/life balance.

What are you doing to ‘weed, feed and nurture’ yourself?

Please contact us to find out how Dawn Newey Coaching can help you to achieve your goals.

Today marks the start of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse.  ‘The spirit of the horse is recognised to be the Chinese people’s ethos making unremitting efforts to improve themselves.  It is energetic, bright, warm-hearted, intelligent and able.’ (Source: TravelGuideChina).  What will you do to develop yourself this year? Contact us to find out how our Personal Development Coaching Programme can help you achieve your goal.

If you are motivated enough to achieve something, you WILL succeed.

If you want something badly enough, so much so it occupies your mind every day, you will take the plunge, you will ask, you will make that call, you will write that letter, you won’t give up, you will pursue your goal with all your heart and soul.

When it comes to career progression or job search, you need to take a more measured approach ensuring that your pursuit is not just about you and your wants, needs, career, or future desires otherwise you might come across as desperate and put the other party off.

So how can you channel your motivation towards influencing your career progression or job search?

  • Do your homework and research the role / organisation – do you match their needs, are the company’s values congruent with your values?
  • Sell yourself positively and professionally, always focused on addressing their needs before your own.
  • Tell them ‘what’s in it for them’ –  what you can bring to the organisation, how you can benefit them.

What’s the worst that could happen? What have you got to lose?  If they say ‘no’ that’s their choice and indeed their prerogative.  But if you never try, you will never know and hey, they might say ‘YES’!

Enlist the support of Dawn Newey Coaching today to help you achieve your personal development or career goal.

I’ve read a number of articles of late that talk about the importance of demonstrating emotional intelligence (EQ) as a leader and in a recruitment process.  If you’re not sure how emotionally intelligent you are, this article will encourage self reflection and enhance self awareness.

When we see or think of a large corporate’s name or brand logo we may conjure up positive or negative thoughts about that organisation.  The same is true of our personal brand and how we portray ourselves to others.  People form an opinion about us within the first 30 seconds therefore we need to ensure that opinion is favourable.  Think about it for a moment…what is your personal dress code, telephone manner, email / letter writing style , CV, Facebook Profile, LinkedIn Profile, Facebook Page or Website saying about you?  Dawn Newey Coaching can help you create that all important, favourable, first and lasting impression.  Contact us for more information about our Personal Brand Coaching Programmes.

Good and effective relationships are built on trust, open communication and mutual respect.  Rapport is a critical building block to establishing and developing the relationship.  Understanding your preferences and Myers Briggs (MBTI) Type can greatly enhance your self awareness, your appreciation of others’ preferences and the way in which you communicate with people, both at work and in your personal life.  Contact us for more information or to book your MBTI feedback and coaching session.
